VISION: Jamko Foundation, Inc., founded December 2019, is a boutique 501(c)3 agency working to address racial and social inequities for Black + People of Color in ways that spark hope and offer real, tangible help for people experiencing poverty and oppression.
We partner with vision-aligned local agencies + projects that deliver services and opportunities to low income Black and Communities of Color in Oakland East Bay and the Greater Bay Area. We center work that seeks to stabilize a person in 5 key areas: Education, Employment, Finances, Housing and Healthy Well-being.
JAMKO Foundation works to address racial and social inequities. Simply put, it’s a decision. Look away or step in to help. We chose to put our shoulders to the plow, in order to see people’s lives changed.
CHALLENGE: Discrimination is institutionalized and embedded into society and its systems and has consistently prevented poor communities of color from accessing education, building wealth and developing career pathways; leaving millions behind.
CORE STRATEGIES:
- We Engage + Listen to our clients to build trust + develop relationship.
- Clients seek to Learn + Grow as they develop a personalize life plan centered on learning, stability and growth in key areas: education, finances employment, housing and healthy well-being.
OUTCOMES:
- People facing homelessness, job loss + financial distress gain tools + support to recover.
- People address issues that hold them back.
- People develop skills to reduce homeless recidivism, poverty and unemployment.
